Sisterhood

Academics are a top priority for Kappa Delta. Kappa Delta is committed to providing members with the resources they need to be their best. Kappa Delta’s academic excellence focus is designed to grow with members throughout their college years, as their needs and areas of concern evolve. Our Academic Excellence program includes study sessions, mentoring members in the same major, individual tutoring, incentives for good grades and more.

The Kappa Deltas at Birmingham-Southern are involved in a variety of campus organizations, and many sisters hold leadership roles in those organizations. As part of our membership in Kappa Delta, all sisters are encouraged to participate in other campus organizations, and we have taken this to heart! To name a few, our sisters are members of Southern Ambassadors, the President’s Service team, Religious Life Leadership, and Hilltop News. We also have many sisters on sports teams including the tennis, lacrosse, golf, and swim teams. Many members have also been invited for membership in honor societies including Alpha Epsilon Delta, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Sigma Lota, and Beta Beta Beta, among many others. Within these various organizations Kappa Deltas have been selected to many different leadership roles to further involve themselves.

Even though Kappa Deltas at Birmingham-Southern know the importance of scholarship, philanthropy, and sisterhood, we also know how to have fun! In fact, it is our hard work and high standards for excellence that enables us to have the fabulous parties that we do! In addition to our four date parties, Kappa Delta has mixers with all six of the BSC’s fraternities having three each semester and we are very excited to say that we have also started mixing with other sororities!

Kappa Delta is committed to providing all members opportunities for growth and lifetime learning. Relevant member education begins soon after a new member accepts her bid. Beyond the new member phase, all initiated members participate in member education workshops in areas such as academic excellence, risk management, leadership, and community service to continue their growth and development as Kappa Deltas. Many workshops also incorporate outside speakers and campus resources to discuss topics such as personal presence, attitude, communication, and how to enlarge our world. A Kappa Delta is always growing as an individual and learning more to better herself!
